Singapore Chung Hong Siang T'ng

In 1973-74 a religious music division was set up within the Xingdao Shantang located in Jalan Kampong Tenggah, off Ponggol 8 ¹/₂ milestone (current Sengkang). As membership grew, the group planned for registration and Chung Hong Siang T’ng was officially registered on 2 Dec. 1977.  It set up an office at Balestier in 1976 but continued to maintain its Ponggol premises. In 1980s the Ponggol site was acquired for redevelopment and CHST was offered a site at Hougang Avenue 7.  As Chung Hong could not find suitable partners on time to co-develop the site, it was forced to give up the site and subsequently moved to co-locate with Blue Cross Charitable Institution at 106, Pasir Panjang Road.

Despite lacking its own premises, Chung Hong continues its philanthropy mission with regular community service for the elderly and donations to support the needy.
