Nanyang Thong Hong Siang T’ng (NTHST) traced its origin to the Tong Feng Shantang in Anbu, China. In 1930 Yang Yuanbi, on a divination message, came to Singapore to set up a branch at Kampong Java Road. After numerous locations it settled at 31 Killiney Road in 1935. On 12 December 1955 it moved into new premises at 8 Lowland Road. From 1960 to 1967, NTHST set up 3 branches in Johore, Selangor and Penang respectively.

The Lowland Road site was impacted by the Northeast MRT line construction and NTHST relocated to its current Sengkang location in March 2002. Free TCM services was provided at the Lowland Road site but this service was disrupted by its relocation. To avoid TCM service duplication in the new Sengkang location, NTHST redirected its resources to other community services including a weekly free Sunday lunch for nearby residents.
